just a picture before i go into a post about what i learn in church yesterday during lessons.

(:
bus rides are always so fun.. haha..

so anyways, we touched on the topic of abortion and euthanasia during class yesterday..
in case some of you dont know, euthanasia is commonly known as 'mercy killing'.. so yeah..
discussions yesterday were a little interesting because even as Christians, we do hold different points of view on certain issues.. so the 2 teachers who were taking our class had different views and they were debating about where they believe life begins..
so when do life actually begins?
is it the moment of conception when the sperm fertilizes the egg?
is it the moment when the baby's limbs form?
is it the moment when the brain starts to develop?
or is it the moment when the baby literally enters the world, breathing its first breath of life in the cruel world?

some say it's the moment of conception because even a cell is a life, isnt it?
life is a little complicated wouldnt you say?
where does the soul come in? does the cell of a potential life have a soul? is the soul given by God given to the baby only when it is fully formed or when the unborn child can react to the outside world of it's mother's womb? where does the soul come in?
but if you say that life begins only when the baby has come into the world, breathing on it's own, then i would ask, when girls get abortions, some say that the unborn child can actually move, even after it has been taking out of the mother's womb.. does that mean that life has not begun for that very premature child?

frankly, in my opinion, life begins when the egg is fertilized.. but it's the choice of the mother to actually end the life of the child.. i'd like to think that every cell is a life.. like the amoeba.. that is a single cell organism and it has life.. would you diagree?
but the chances of bringing an unwanted child into this world is so slim.. if you were 18 and you were pregnant, would you keep the child? would you go through 9 months of labour, to skip school, to miss out on things like clubbing with your friends?
i think at least 50% of us wouldnt give up our teenage lives for something like this.. but what if religious issues come into the picture? as a Christian, one of the commandments we have, is that we should not kill.. so technically, abortion is wrong.. then again, it goes back to the basics of what is your stand on when life begins..

life is tough wouldnt you agree? there are things that we dont have control over and yet, some of the things that we have control over, we may have internal self conflicts..
dont you feel that this life is not worth living sometimes? having to go through all these horrible things, all these sad moments, these painful moments that life brings.. to actually live through these moments of agony and stuff, not knowing why these events took place and how it actually happened.. some times, we even replay them in our minds over and over again.. isnt life not worth living for?
but thinking again, wouldnt it be contradictory if you thought of the bad times and then realised that during those horrific moments in your life, you actually came to realise the number of people who actually cared and were there for you? then you remember too, the good times you had with your friends, all the aimless walking around in town, looking for your prom dress, finding that perfect hairband, buying that sexy pair of jeans, gossiping about that bitch who took copied your dress sense, wearing the same top out, and just talking over drinks.. doesnt these things outnumber the bad times?
so life is worth living after all isnt it?
sure no one promised that life wouldnt have it's downs, but hey, life will ALWAYS have it's ups. that, i can always guarantee.. both ups and down go hand in hand, always..
(:
it's only how you see it.. it's not what life makes out of you.. it's what YOU make out of life..
if you're going through a rough patch, know and believe that you, my dear, are stronger than what you credit yourself for.. even if you feel like tofu, you are not.. even if you say the strong person is just a mask you wear to pretend that everything's alright, to pretend that your life is going fine, and that deep down, you are breaking, you still are strong.. it's just a matter of looking deeper and finding that warrior in you to fight the battles in your life..
your friends are there, to help you, to hold your hand.. but you, only you, can bring yourself to stand on your own two feet..

which then brings me back to the topic.. since life is worth living, wouldnt you want to let the unborn child live too? to experience life at it's best and at it's worst? knowing that someway, somehow, you will always be there..
